Fall Staples at Golden Hour

how to style wear plaid flannel shirt top
Don’t be fooled by the dreamy lighting of these pictures, this was one of the worst days we have had in a long time. On my morning run I got bit by dog.  Then at our park play date the little one got stung by fire ants, and to top it off this sweet little boy who I thought was potty trained reverted back to needing diapers. By the time my hubby got home from work, I was barely holding it together (big baby, I know!). He suggested a walk, to get out and relax. I reluctantly agreed. We walked around and decided to hang out at this peaceful spot as the sun went down. Watching the little one happily flip over rocks, seeing the last flowers of summer, and watching the sky glow helped me put everything back into perspective. Yes, we had a bad day, but ultimately we have more blessings than we can count…..a beautiful healthy son (ant bites and all), a peaceful place to relax, a country that’s safe, and a hubby that loves me, mangled leg and all. Bad days will come and go, but we are blessed and grateful for these blessings.

Whenever we are having a bad day, I force myself to put on a decent outfit and do my hair and make-up.  Outwardly being put together seems to help me emotionally keep it together.  It’s clothes therapy at it’s best!  For this day I choose my favorite distressed jeans that are so comfortable and paired it with my new pair of booties from Sole Society and a plaid shirt.  This look is pretty much my fall uniform and will be on frequent repeat for the months to come.

I get tons of comments about this Dutch side braid and it is so quick and easy, so I did a quick little tutorial so you guys can do it too.

You still look amazing even after having a bad day! I hate days like that, but you are right. So much to be grateful for! Have a great week Carly!

I definitely have those overwhelming days more now that I’m a mom too. It’s all about perspective, which sometimes we need help finding (like your husband did here.) The way the day started off helped you appreciate how it ended all the more, and hopefully the next day started off better. Lovely images.

I love your plaid shirt and distressed skinny jeans. Great casual Fall Look. I have a few plaid shirts but I definitely need some distressed jeans this Fall/Winter. =)

I am sorry to read that it was such a rough morning/early afternoon. At least you got some peaceful walking time in. Your hair and outfit is so cute together.

That outfit is SO CUTE! Might as well be looking good even if you’re having a bad day, right?

I really like how the braid ties everything together (off to check that tutorial out now :)). Beauty!
