Feeling Southwestern in Black & Brown

Black Top: Old Navy (old) // Brown Top: So (old) // Pants: Express // Jewelry: custom made (old, similar) // Belt: Target // Booties: Express (old)

Why is it a fashion faux pas to mix black and brown?  I pulled together this outfit from some old favorites for a casual Saturday spent running around town with the little one and hubby.  I liked the color combo, but then again I am just starting to develop a personal style (more about that here).  What do you think of combining black and brown?

On a side note: This outfit is proof that you don’t have to have new clothes to pull together a unique outfit.  The two tops and jewelry I have been wearing since I was in high school ten years ago!

Happy Monday!

Whenever I hear the term “fashion rules” I think of the Pirates of the Caribbean scene where Geoffry Rush says the code is more like “guidelines”. Break them and break them proudly, I say!

Thank you! I’m definitely a fan of being a repeat offender…..it’s crazy to always have a new outfit for every event

Thank you, Elle! I’m not sure about the perfect figure part though, it seems lots of pieces are about 2 inches short since I am so tall. But I appreciate the compliment

Thank you! I could never get into yoga. I run 3 days a week or use the elliptical if it is too cold to take the little one outside for run.

Thank you, Whit! No, I didn’t make it. I wish I had the skill to make jewelry, but I usually get custom jewelry at the Native American jewelry markets in New Mexico or at craft shows. My father bought me this set at a craft show several years ago
