A few weekends ago my mother came and stayed with the little one, so we could do a weekend getaway. It was well over due as I haven’t spent more than 16 hours away from the little one since he was born two and half years ago. While I missed him like crazy, it was also nice to spend some one on one time with the hubby. We chose to spend the weekend at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Spa since it’s the perfect combination of nature for the hubby and luxury for me.
It’s nestled in the hills of northern New Mexico and has a deep cultural history of the Native Americans and Spanish using the natural springs for medicinal purposes during battle. Eventually it was claimed by the Spanish acquisition and started being used as a natural spa in 1868. Many claim the springs have cured them of diseases and medical problems.
It was the perfect location for a quick couples getaway. The rustic, chic decor combined with rural setting and hot springs created a relaxing and romantic environment. We spent the weekend wandering the gardens, dipping in one spring after another spring after another spring, getting all dressed up to eat at the Artisian restaurant and indulging in wine and desserts.
It was wonderful to have a couple of days of adult time, but once a parent always a parent………we spent a lot of the time reminiscing over the past two years since we became parents and genuinely missed the little ones company.
