Every year we try and take a winter wonderland trip to play in the snow. Last year we went to Durango and didn’t have enough time to do everything we wanted to, so we decided to go there again this year.
As I was making the reservations several people cautioned me that there might not be snow in December, but I stubbornly booked the trip anyway and figured we could always drive into the San Juan mountains each day if the town didn’t have snow. We got so lucky! The night we arrived a medium sized snow storm blew in and we woke up to a few inches of snow.
We bundled up early in the morning and headed to the town park to play in the snow. To my surprise it was completely empty! I guess people who live in Durango don’t get nearly as excited to play in the snow as I do. It was so much fun! The little one was so cute pushing his trucks around and we even had a snowball fight, which I didn’t think he would be coordinated enough to do yet. He would get his mittens covered in snow and then run at me shaking them and giggling the whole time.
I’m still learning how to dress for the snow, but I’ve learned a good pair of boots is key. Believe it or not, I haven’t owned a true pair of snow boots in years. I came across these snow boots right before our trip and decided to buy them even if I wouldn’t get much use out of them since they were so affordable.
If you are looking for a pair of cute, affordable snow boots, I highly recommend these.
